☆ What’s Trending in Osaka?

April trend report! It’s been three years since the last time I was in Japan- and I feel like what’s trending now has changed a bit. Note that I primarily notice fashion things so that’s what I’ll write about below~

✦ ReFa

ReFa Heart Comb Aira – ¥2970 // ~$18.60 usd

Where did this brand come from? I have no idea. But what I do know is their haircare is everywhere. I love their elegant, girly aesthetic. When I stopped by the ReFa store, I had to grab a number and be helped by an attendant in order to purchase something (the whole experience felt rather fancy).

I recently bought their shampoo after using a trial packet and it smells really sweet and fruity in the best way! The heart comb is also very cute. No additional functionality but I don’t regret the purchase, I’ve been using it to calm my flyaways at work. You won’t catch me purchasing their ¥40000 hair dryer just yet, though. ;p

✦ Gelato Pique

I do not personally understand the hype! But then again, who can resist some cute, fluffy pajamas. At the malls in Tennoji/Umeda this store is always PACKED.

The pajama sets went for around $70. For full polyester, too?! You’re paying for the brand and “European” vibe of it all.

✦ Lace, everything!

I love this trend. Lace/ruffled dresses (specifically white) are very popular at the moment. It’s common to see them layered over a t-shirt, jeans, etc. The more flowy, shapeless style layer vibe is in.

BONUS!

What’s trending with foreign tourists?

✦ Pokémon

It’s actually everywhere. On T-shirts, stickers, shoes, donuts, backpacks, what! It is intensely popular with Japanese kids and adults, too. Eevee is my personal favorite. If you’ve made it this far, comment your favorite Pokemon! c:

✦ Onitsuka Tigers

Though I see tourists wearing these constantly, hardly any Japanese people are sporting them. And as expected, the stores in Shinsaibashi are filled with excited buyers from overseas! I like the design of them, I owned a pair a few years ago and they were surprisingly comfy. I remember my dad telling me about the history of the Mexico 66s.

That’s all for now!

I’m going to keep my eyes peeled for more trendy things when I’m out and about. I’m sure there’s something obvious I missed.
